Hakata Riverain was opened in 1999 through a redevelopment project in Shimokawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, led by Fukuoka City. This is a large-scale commercial complex consisting of three buildings: Riverine Center Building, Hakataza / Seigin Building, and Hotel Okura Fukuoka Building.
Hakata Riverain, which combines theater, art, gourmet, shopping, and hotels, is attracting attention as a tourist and commercial area in Fukuoka. In addition, the building has been working hard on barrier-free and has passed the building standards for people with disabilities.

- Hakata Riverain Mall
The Hakata Riverain Mall is a commercial zone where various tenants occupy the second to sixth floors of the basement floor of the large commercial building, the Riverain Center Building. Over 70 shops representing the world’s finest designer names make this seven-floor shopping arcade a literal shopper’s paradise. - Fukuoka Asian Art Museum
The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum was founded in 1999 as one of Fukuoka’s advanced initiatives for exchange with Asia. - Hakata-Za Theater
Hakata-Za Theater performs a variety of performances on a monthly basis, including kabuki, musicals, Takarazuka opera, plays, and singer performances. Each spring, all eyes turn to Hakata-Za as the country’s top Kabuki actors make their grand entrance from an elaborate canal boat procession along the Naka River. The hall has about 1,500 seats, making it one of the largest theaters in Kyushu.

Riverain Street is a collection of long-established stores that have been operating here for a long time. It is composed of the old Shimokawabata shopping street, which has been loved by Hakata people since ancient times, the old Kawabata shopping street, and some of the old Kotobuki Street shopping street.
- Office Zone
Hakata Riverain, a large-scale commercial and cultural facility, has an office zone for many tenants. It is directly connected to the subway Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the second basement floor, making it an excellent location for good business footwork.
